Introduction
What This Course Is About
Based on Eric Butterworth’s groundbreaking book Discover the Power Within You, this course provides the necessary tools for recognizing and using the divine power within. Beginning with the eternal quest of who and what you are, this course will illuminate your own spiritual being and lead you to achieve greater peace and prosperity. You will become the captain of your own soul and the master of your own life, which will lead to greater freedom and more abundant living!

Discover the Power Within You is a Spiritual Education and Enrichment required course for the Spiritual Development Program.

How the Course Is Presented
The instructor will prepare a Learning Guide for each week’s work. The Learning Guide will include comments about the topic to be studied during the week plus suggestions about what to look for in the assigned readings.

Along with this posting, the instructor will initiate discussion threads by posting specific questions related to the week’s topic of study. Students will be able to post responses to the discussion questions, respond to other students’ postings, and ask questions of interest to the class. The instructor will respond as appropriate.

Questions of special interest to individual students will be answered by e-mail.

Learning Objectives
On completion of the course, students will be able to
  • Describe a situation in which they practiced the concept of honoring the divine power within others.
  • Articulate the relationship of thoughts and the law of cause and effect in the manifestation process.
  • Explain their methods for exploring the divinity within themselves.
  • Begin to create action plans that will support them in practicing Jesus’ teachings in real life experiences.
  • Enumerate, define and metaphysically explain the main teachings of Jesus Christ according to Eric Butterworth.

Required Texts

Books of Interest

  • Dynamics for Living (Charles Fillmore)
  • A journal – to record your thoughts, reflections and concerns and insights. For personal and private use. Your instructor will never ask for it.
Requirements for Learners
Complete Assigned Readings
Reading assignments from the textbook will vary in length, with no week’s assignment overly long. Optional readings from the books of interest will be listed along with readings from required texts. The optional readings will add to students’ learning experiences.

Use the Weekly Learning Guide
The Weekly Learning Guide gives students an overview of each week’s learning activities and experiences. Each lesson flows similarly and includes:

  • Table with topic and general information.
  • Overview of key concepts.
  • Discussion Forum questionnaire.
  • Weekly affirmation.

Participate in Online Discussion
The discussion forum offers students the opportunity to interact with other students and with the facilitator of the class. Every Monday after the first week, the facilitator will post questions or statements related to the lesson. By the following Monday, students should respond with answers, comments or even questions related to the topic. Discussion Forums are mandatory. When extreme circumstances prevent a student from participating, the student must contact the facilitator.

Important: No final assignment or paper will be required.
Grading
As is the case with all SEE courses, evaluation for Discover the Power Within You will be based on a Credit/No Credit system. To successfully complete Discover the Power Within You, students must participate in each week’s Discussion Forum. A grade of "incomplete" will be assigned for any students who do not sufficiently participate in the discussion, and additional assignments will be required to remove the incomplete grade. When approved, students will be awarded 10 required Spiritual Education and Enrichment credits. The registrar’s office will mail written notification.
