Syllabus:
“The Creative Process in the Bible”

Course Description
This course reviews the biblical account of the seven days of creation and presents the seven steps of the creative process as metaphysically interpreted by Unity’s cofounder Charles Fillmore. You will learn the seven important steps in the creative process in the Bible, their orderly progression, and how to use the process to create a more fulfilling life.

Course Materials

Required:

  • The Bible: The New Revised Standard Version is used for all Bible verses, unless otherwise noted.
  • Journal—for writing your responses to reflective questions. This journal is private, confidential, and completely your own.

Optional Books:

Assignments
Study one lesson per week over the next 10 weeks. Journal about the reflective questions offered in the text, take part in the discussion forum at the end of Lessons 2 through 10, and answer the self-check questions that follow each lesson.

  • Reflective questions help you apply what you’re learning to your life.
  • Discussion Forums provide the primary means of interacting with your facilitator and peers in the virtual classroom setting.
  • Self-check questions demonstrate how well you understand the lesson. You have two chances to respond correctly before the answer automatically appears—but you do not need to achieve a specific score with your answers. Once you have completed the self-check questions, you may move on to the next lesson.
Grading
The class is graded pass/fail, with a passing score based on your participation in the Discussion Forums required for Lessons 2 through 10.
Discussion Forums
Participation in the Discussion Forms offers valuable interaction with your instructor and classmates and is your required assignment to receive credit. Here’s how it works: Every Monday after the first week, your instructor will post a question or statement related to the lesson. You should respond with your best thinking and offer comments and further questions appropriate to the topic. Your response is due by the following Sunday. If extenuating circumstances prevent you from completing the assignment, please contact your instructor as soon as possible to discuss your situation.
