Rebuild and Restore Something Sacred
October 2008 Nehemiah RetreatOctober 19–23, 2008
Join us for our first Nehemiah Retreat as we rebuild and restore the sacred grounds of Unity Village. A Nehemiah Retreat is all about renewing something sacred—Unity Village and you.
In exchange for several hours of repair work every day, you’ll receive:
- Inspirational programs focusing on fellowship, spiritual renewal and growth.
- Room and board from Sunday afternoon through Friday morning.
- A celebratory banquet on Thursday evening.
- The opportunity to do “a great work.” (Neh. 6:3)
Retreat Projects:
Restoration of retaining walls at Unity Institute
Remove and repair deteriorating stucco surfaces on retaining walls. Useful skills include mixing mortar, installing stucco on vertical surfaces and operating electric hand tools.
Rebuilding a stone wall near the swimming pool
We will gather stones and lay them into the wall. Useful skills include mixing mortar, laying brick or cement blocks and operating hand tools.
Both projects require the ability to lift objects weighing up to 35 pounds and working on your feet outdoors for up to three hours a day in cool temperatures. Supervision and tools will be provided.
This retreat runs concurrently with the Fall Spiritual Education and Enrichment Session B. Bring a friend, partner or spouse who can enjoy a SEE experience while you are working at personal spiritual renewal as well as helping restore the sacred grounds of Unity Village.
